14 September 2015 – The English command “Look!” makes a pretty good pictogram, with black pupils added to the two O’s to make them a pair of eyes — but the Spanish rough-equivalent, “Ojo,” is even better.

Not just two O’s for eyes, but that drooping J in between, to make a nose. Perfect.

So … “Ojo,” everybody.

An alert downtown eye, part of a traffic signal box mural on Yonge Street, and the perfect command for this fresh, sunny day. Rain & gloom all weekend, big disappointment for the Cabbagetown Festival (though I scored some fine books at the yard sales, even so) — but today rebounding to warmth and bright skies.

So I’m all “ojo” as I walk over to the Y for a workout.

And … OJO! … bright swirls up the lamp-posts in the Church-Wellesley Village.

Then … OJO to the max! … on Yonge, just north of College.

A merchant has set up a bubble machine out on the sidewalk. No reason. Just-because.

Every passer-by, just for one happy moment, grins like a 4-year-old at the sight.
