The Cat Came Back!

28 November 2023 – We truly thought that fog-cat had met Carl Sandburg’s 1916 expectations, risen from his silent haunches, flexed his little cat feet, and moved on.

But no.

Instead, he met the 1893 expectations of musician Henry S. Miller, and came back.

“We thought he was a goner, but the cat came back…” (To fully appreciate the cat’s persistence, watch this wicked 1988 NFB animation.)

Here he is, looking out over Main Street at 1 a.m. this morning…

still here, at breakfast time…

and, mid-morning, just as peacefully still settled on his haunches over on The Drive (Commercial Dr.), where he looks out both to the east, along East 3rd…

and to the west, along Venables.

However.

By early afternoon, back in Mount Pleasant, he has chosen to flick an ear, rise once more to his little cat feet, and start to show some signs of moving on.

He is even allowing the Coast Range Mountains a bit of a look-in.

For now!

(“The cat came back, it just couldn’t stay away…”)

I had forgotten about that NFB video! Great photos, Penny, very atmospheric, even if the fog is a bit damp. πŸ˜‰ I hope you get a break from it now.
