Old & New

30 March 2026 – It’s everywhere.

Old East Van building, new blossoms…

Old Granville bridge, new leaves…

Old market barrel, new plantings…

Old Tassel Fern, brand-new baby fronds.

It’s spring!

I’m a huge fan of that little ferry (I’m a huge fan of all passenger ferries tbh)

oh, me too! all my young childhood years, we summered in a cottage in the St. Lawrence River outside Montreal, reachable only by ferry (and only allowed on board if the ferryman either knew you, or you could name the family you were visiting) — later I lived on an island in Toronto Harbour, so I have a life-long love of, and excitement with, little ferries — to be once again living with ferries is a constant delight

Have you been frequenting Greenhorn Cafe for breakfast? I’d be huge if I lived in Vancouver

I”m laughing, because I’d never heard of ” the Greenhorn Cafe, and have to learn its existence from someone on another continent. You sound like you used to live here, or spent a lot of time here; do tell. My “local” is Patisserie Melo, run by the eponymous Melo, a Brazlian who studied in France and now lives here. A parallel story to the owner of Greenhorn, an Argentinian who now lives here. I’m meeting a friend chez Melo later today, I’ll raise a cup in your honour. (And I promise to check out Greenhorn.)

Just been to Vancouver a few times. Greenhorn is West End which I like. I have a habit of arriving somewhere and immediately bedding in at a breakfast place. Priorities 😉
